Recent Reads

I have not been doing much hooking, but reading instead. I thought I would share with you what I have been reading. I know I love to hear what others are reading, so feel free to leave comments giving me some good recommendations.

This was an easy read and I could not put it down! A real look at how family deals with hoarding.

I loved, loved, LOVED this book. It’s set in England and is about a girl who becomes a caregiver for a quadriplegic man. I don’t want to give too much away so just read it! I finished this is two days because I was so hooked.

What a wonderful web of secrets and lives all woven together. This story continued to surprise me and held me captivated until the very end. I actually think I enjoyed the last chapter the most!

I hope you will pick up and read one of these great books!

A Rug and a Basket

This is the latest rug to come off my frame.

This rug is my own design.
Hooked on linen.
This rug measures approx. 13.5"H X 19.5"W in it's widest parts.
The colors and design are wonderfully primitive.
It is not as bright as the picture shows.
I had to use the flash for the photo.

Primitive Rug Hooking Hand Woven Basket

I bought this basket when I was at the Woolley Fox
many years ago.
I think I have used it a couple of times, but not since I have moved and have decided to let it go to a new home.

Measures approx. 6.5"W X 9.75"L

It is used, but just like new.

They both can be found on ebay HERE.

Still Hooking!

My friend Karen was here visiting last week and we hooked the time away!
It is always fun when you can hook with a friend!!
Karen brought the cute pattern above called:
Patty's Prim Saltbox
Designed by Judy Cripps
Measures approx. 18" X 19"
She almost got it finished!!

This is the rug that I hooked while she was here.
It is a pattern that I drew up and started hooking a few years ago and then we moved so it got put in a box, I am still on a mission to finish some old projects, so I decided to finish this one. I had the eagle hooked and the big star. It is kind of a wonky pattern with the backwards flag in the upper right corner, but that is what makes it different, I guess. I used the eagle from an antique rug and combined it with the other motifs.
Measures approx. 21.5" X 42"
What should I call this rug? Leave me a comment with what you think I should call it and if I choose your pattern name I will send you a little gift!!

Another Finish!

This is my latest unfinished project to be finished.
It is a pattern by Karla Gerard called 2 Houses.
Not my usual type of pattern to hook, but it was fun and carefree!
Measures approx. 32" X 39"

This is an alphabet sampler that I designed for my friend Marion. She hooked it at Cape May workshop in September. She did a great job and I wanted to share it with you. She hooked it in a #9 cut.
  It measures approx. 19" X 31.5"

I still need to whip the edges.  Off to find the yarn!!
I am going to finish another unfinished hooking project.
Ha, I have more than one, anyone else?
Pictures to come soon!

A Rug and an Applique

This is the latest rug to come off my frame.
"My Dog"
Inspired from an antique rug and my dog Molly.
Measures approximately 16.5"H X 23"W
Hooked on linen.
This is a wool applique made by Maggie Bonanomi that I found at an antique shop in Missouri before I moved to North Carolina and have decided to sell it. I have been downsizing and putting out less and less seasonal decorations and it needs to be loved and displayed.

You can find both on ebay HERE

Rug Update

I have been hooking a little bit on my rug, so I thought I would share with you what I have gotten done. I am having trouble finding my hooking groove again since taking time off from it to get ready for the workshop. Suppose to be raining and cooler this week so maybe that will help!

All the motifs are hooked, now onto the background!

You can see that I included my initials and the year!
Do you include your initials and dates in your rugs?

Rug Show

Here are pictures from the rug show at Rugs By the Sea workshop. Like I said in my earlier post, I did not get pictures of all the rugs, sorry ladies!! If you click on the picture it will make it bigger and you will be able to see the tags(if it made it into the picture) to see who hooked it.
Enjoy part one of the show!
